DESCRIPTION AND USES:
- Vitamin D3 is a homogeneous, crystalline, light blue powder that dissolves completely.
- Vitamin D3 is synthesized through the skin and food sources, absorbed in the intestinal mucosa via bile salts and fats, and accumulated in the liver, fat, bones, muscles, and intestinal mucosa.
- In the body, Vitamin D3 is metabolized in the liver and kidneys to produce the active metabolite 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol by the enzyme hydroxylase. This metabolite participates in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the intestines to nourish the body.
- When there is a deficiency of Vitamin D3 or liver/kidney damage, Vitamin D3 cannot be converted into 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol-Alpha D3. This prevents the animal from absorbing calcium, leading to symptoms such as stunted growth, rickets, red bones, thin eggshells, weak legs, calcified urine, kidney stones, etc.
